As a local company who cares about our customers and the community, Socket is committed to helping our community stay connected during this unfamiliar time. In order to ensure that Americans do not lose their broadband or telephone connectivity, Federal Communications Commission Ajit Pai asked telecommunications providers to take the ‘Keep Americans Connected Pledge’. The pledge says: “Given the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on American society, Socket pledges for the next 60 days to: (1) not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic; (2) waive any late fees that any residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic.”
In addition to the pledge, Socket is also committed to helping students and those working from home. We are increasing bandwidth for our residential fiber customers to the fastest available internet speeds up to 1 Gbps for 60 days. Internet speeds will automatically be increased at no additional cost. Socket is also working with business customers to find solutions one-by-one.
Finally, Socket is offering 90 days free fiber internet service to households with K-12 students, college students, or senior citizens 60 or older from now until April 30, 2020. This is for new residential customers with availability to our fiber network only, speeds up to 1 Gbps. There are no data caps, no contracts, no installation fees, and free Wi-Fi is included.
Socket cares and we hope that everything we are doing will support our community. “We are committed to doing our part to help keep our community connected. We are hopeful this will better support businesses, individuals working from home, and students that need increased internet access during this time,” said Carson Coffman, president and COO of Socket.
