The Internet is nearly essential to every home for information and entertainment. However, there are risks involved.

June is National Internet Safety Month, and Socket would like to offer our customers some tips for safe Web surfing for you, your computer and your family.

You might have heard about recent legislation that addresses how internet service providers (ISPs) can use the personal data of their customers. We want to take this opportunity to share our own views on this issue, as we believe the privacy of our customers is of utmost importance.

Socket does not sell your personal internet usage information. Ever. This includes your browsing history, search history, the content of emails you send and receive, files you download, and more. 

Technology is evolving quickly, but only 55 percent of people in rural areas have access to the speeds that, according to the FCC, currently qualify as broadband. In comparison, 94 percent of the urban population does. Why is there such a gap with technology's constant improvements? 

Broadband adoption can boost the economy in rural areas in ways such as increasing income, decreasing unemployment rates, and creating jobs.
