Terms of Service

General Terms of Service:

All services offered under this contract are subject to Socket's Acceptable Use Policy, which can be found on Socket’s website at www.socket.net/aup.

A technically supported computer is a computer purchased within the last five years running an up-to-date installation of either Windows or Mac OS with a natively supported Modem, Ethernet, or Wireless card already properly installed. Other computers will work on our network, however, we may not be able to fully support them. But we'll still try!

This service is intended for residential use only. If this service is established for a business, pricing is subject to change.

Your account will be invoiced from the date your service goes active.

All accounts will be invoiced on the 1st of the month in which they occurred.

Payment is due by the 20th of the month. Any accounts left unpaid by the last day of the month will be automatically disconnected and subject to delinquency fees. Reconnection fees may also apply.

Socket offers the option of setting up recurring payments via credit or debit Cards, or via automatic bank withdrawal, if the customer authorizes. Recurring payments will renew automatically via these methods chosen, unless you notify Socket otherwise.

Socket reserves the right to assign any delinquent accounts to an outside agency for collections.

Account maintenance must be done prior to the next billing period. This includes changes to the account, billing options and cancellations.

All accounts are non-refundable unless sufficient documentation of technical difficulties on Socket Telecom's network exists.

Socket’s equipment is configured so that our agents may remotely access them for troubleshooting and maintenance. Any changes to equipment by anyone other than Socket personnel are prohibited. Failure to return equipment in good condition will require that you pay for its replacement.

  • Late Payment Fee: 5% with a minimum $5 charge

  • Rejected Check or ACH Draft Charge: $25.00

  • Equipment Shipping and Handling Fee: $9.95

Fiber Terms of Service

Fiber services are billed month-to-month. Termination of service after home installation for any reason before your first bill, including term agreement violation, non-payment, or moving from the service address will result in the payment of any outstanding balances and the Early Termination Fee. Depending on construction work completed, this fee may also be assessed if services are cancelled before they are installed. The Early Termination Fee is $90.

Many things outside Socket's control can affect Internet speeds, which will vary and are not guaranteed. In order to improve reliability and performance, some lines may be provisioned at less than the maximum speed capable, but within range of speed purchased.

Socket may choose to install an Optical Network Terminal either outside or inside your home. If installed outside, you agree to allow Socket to keep the ONT on your home in the event you should disconnect service. If installed inside, you agree to return the device in good condition within 30 days of discontinuing service or be responsible for a replacement fee of $300.

Standard Installation does not include configuring customer's computers, networking Ethernet cables, nor any internal wiring through the house. To use existing wiring within the home, the fiber-optic cable will need to enter where existing power service does today. Additional rooms may be connected at the customer's expense.

Socket's service cables may be buried and may cause some disturbance to your property. Socket will use reasonable precaution and attempt to restore the property to its previous condition. Likewise, please exercise caution while cable is prepped for burial and after it has been buried. You also expressly release defend and indemnify Socket and its owners, subsidiaries, successors, officers, directors, agents, assigns, and insurers from any and all indirect liability arising from the fiber line's presence on your property.

If you rent or otherwise do not own your premises, you must obtain landlord permission to allow Socket to complete its installation. By agreeing to Socket's terms of service, you represent that you have obtained or will obtain all necessary approvals prior to construction and installation.

Additional Fees may include the following:

  • ONT Replacement Charge: $300.00

  • Wireless Router Replacement Fee: $120 plus sales tax

  • Early Termination Fee (half of all of the remaining monthly recurring charges for the term of the agreement) not to exceed $350.00

Television Terms of Service

Failure to return the following equipment in good condition within 30 days of discontinuing service will require that you pay for its replacement, plus sales tax. Those fees are as follows:

  • Remote Control: $15.00

  • Multi-TV Switch: $60.00

  • Non-DVR Set Top Box: $150.00

  • DVR Set Top Box: $250.00

Naked DSL Terms of Service

Speeds on Socket’s high-speed DSL service are dependent upon the package purchased. Many things outside Socket’s control affect internet speeds, which will vary and are not guaranteed. In order to improve reliability and performance, some lines may be provisioned at less than the maximum speed capable, but within the range of speed purchased.

Socket services are ordered to a specific address and not automatically moved should the customer change their address or telephone number. The customer is required to provide notice to Socket at least 10 business days prior to date of move to avoid service interruptions. Service fees may apply.

If service is cancelled before service is installed, you are responsible for returning any equipment already received, as well as paying an order cancellation fee of $60.

General Phone Terms of Service

Your package entitles you to unlimited local calling within your local calling area. Local calling scopes vary between areas.

Your package also unlimited long distance within the continental United States. Rates for Alaska, Hawaii, and countries abroad may be found at www.socket.net/home/international-rates.

Additional Fees may include the following:

  • Modem Replacement Charge: $80 to $120 (plus sales tax), depending upon the model of the modem and state of the modem upon return.

Fiber Phone Terms of Service

Since your phone service will run over Socket’s fiber network and not traditional copper phone lines, the service will be susceptible to power outages, like any other electronic device. If you wish to maintain landline phone service and 911 access in the event of a power outage, you’ll need a backup battery or generator. Socket offers a backup battery option for a $100 one-time purchase, or you can purchase your own backup battery online or at many retailers. More information is available at www.socket.net/battery-backups.

Dial Up Terms of Service

Many things outside Socket’s control affect internet speeds, which will vary and are not guaranteed, though every effort is made to ensure the most reliably fast connection speed for customers.

Premium accelerated dial-up service will experience connection speeds identical to normal dial-up services, however due to compression software used on both the client computer as well as Socket’s servers, customers will experience surfing speeds as great as 12 times faster than normal dial-up. These speeds are dependent upon the websites visited, frequency of usage, and various settings on the client computer.
