Where you see land, CycloCross sees a challenge
Have you noticed an increase in "traffic" on the front lawn on Tuesday nights? That's because CoMo Cyclocross is well into its second season!
No, it's not a crime scene. The yellow caution tape strung in a maze throughout our front lawn is just an outline of the course that mid-Missouri cyclists are using. The course consists of twists and turns that not only test a rider's ability to navigate the course on wheels, but also his or her ability to dismount and progress through a variety of obstacles and then remount, continuing the race.
Josh Johnson, programming supervisor at Socket, was able to coordinate the series again this year with the help of Socket and a group of local enthusiasts. The series began last year when he asked to use our front lawn and, well, here we are.
Races are held every Tuesday at 6 PM for 12 weeks between September 3 and November 19. The weekly fee is $5 and there's a free CycloCross training clinic beginning at 5:30 PM if you want to learn the ropes.
