Most of us have adapted to this new way of life, however it is extremely important to stay connected with others when working from home. It can be easy to forget to stay in touch with friends, family members, and even coworkers during social distancing. At Socket we are doing things like virtual spirit week and beer Fridays through Zoom to stay in touch! Here are five ways to stay connected other than the classic phone call.
1. Video Chat
Video chat is a great way to see and talk to people without leaving your home! Set up a time every week to talk with your coworkers/ family and friends even if it is only for 30 minutes at a time. There are so many things you could do over a video call including virtual dinners, virtual happy hour, virtual book club, and virtual spa day. Some video chat outlets are Skype, Google Hangouts, House Party, and Zoom.
2. Netflix Party
Netflix party is the perfect way to have a movie nigh with your friends from a distance. It even includes a group chat so you can discuss the movie while watching. Make some popcorn, get your friends together, and pick out a movie!
3. Virtual Game Night
If you are a fan of game nights, there are ways to still have them. Bunch is an app that allows you to have game parties on your phone. Jackbox games include a variety of easy to play party games with others, and even have a full tutorial on how to play remotely. Also, don’t forget about the classic app store games including Words with Friends, Trivia Crack, Yahtzee, etc.
4. Group Chat
Create a group chat with your friends and have ongoing conversations. Group chats are such an easy way to say connected. WhatsApp allows you to message and make phones calls for free!
5. Handwritten Letters
Good old fashion letters are a fun way to stay in touch. Write a letter and spice it up by adding pictures or handmade items. Become pen pals and send letters out to all of your friends and family.
It is so important to check in on one another and stay in touch while social distancing. Of course, the internet is very important during these times and Socket is here to serve. Visit our website to sign up for services!
