Congratulations to Gary Smith, Service Delivery Coordinator, on being named Socket’s You-Make-The-Difference award winner for June!

It was Gary’s friend, Rick, who led him to apply for Socket. His previous jobs required him to travel a lot, so Rick said, “You should get off the road and go to work for Socket, then you can be at home every night.” Now Gary helps business customers get connected to fiber for their internet and voice services.

“Gary works very hard to make sure he understands the needs of clients (both internal and external) so that he can best serve their needs,” said a coworker who nominated him. “He's thorough and extremely responsive. Everytime you see Gary, he has a smile on his face and an upbeat attitude which is contagious. Definitely makes the difference.”

Gary and his wife currently live in Jefferson City. His daughter lives in St. Louis with his one-year-old grandson and his “granddoggie”, Honey Pot (also known as H.P.). When he’s not at work, Gary loves spending his free time outdoors camping, boating, swimming, and traveling.

“I tell everyone it's the greatest place to be employed,” said Gary.
