Congratulations to Jason Vander Veen, Fiber Design Specialist, on being named Socket’s You-Make-The-Difference award winner for December!
Jason applied to work at Socket 8 years ago, after he heard about the company from their TV commercials. He said he was looking for something “a little more nerdy” than his past job. Jason works in Fiber Design, where his job is to estimate and design fiber networks. “Basically, I make maps, spreadsheets, and contemplate lasers.”
“Jason is always willing to answer questions and help no matter what he has going on. He balances the demands of adding new clients and areas to our fiber build with making sure our fiber plans maintain the integrity of service we are known for. He is also a master with the mapping software, and can probably identify any area we service from the aerial view of a plane,” said a coworker who nominated him.
Outside of work, Jason likes spending time with his wife and three kids, along with their puppy and four fish. He also enjoys the handy work around the house, building and fixing things. His current hobby is learning how to make raised panel cabinet and drawer fronts.
When asked what his favorite part about working at Socket is, Jason said, “I really enjoy being a part of the effort to build fiber to our communities. I think we provide an amazing service, that people desperately need, and we are making some money while we’re at it. It also makes me proud to work for a company that takes their customer service so seriously.”
