Happy Halloween!

We celebrated Halloween here at the office with our 4th annual costume contest.

It's pretty legendary. Past winners have included Dog the Bounty Hunter, Wolverine and Falcon the Balloon Boy (remember him??).

This year, everyone from Harry Potter to Wimpy from Popeye showed up. And if you called tech support that day, you just might have talked to the King Pig from Angry Birds!

Meet Jeff Gray, Programmer/Analyst

Every month, Socket employees nominate and vote on a co-worker who best exemplifies our Core Values and Beliefs

This month, we picked Jeff Gray, programmer/analyst.

He joined the Socket team two years ago and builds all kinds of really cool behind-the-scenes tools that help the rest of us do our jobs.

Lately, he's been working hard on Socket's new Fax to Email service, as well as a tool (we call it the Raptor) to help us keep in touch with the nice folks we meet at events throughout Missouri.

Celebrating Customer Service Appreciation Week

October 3-7 was Customer Service Appreciation Week, a time to recognize and thank employees dedicated to taking care of customers.

At Socket, we believe everyone here is involved in customer service--either directly or indirectly.

That's why we offered all our employees a yummy yogurt parfait as a surprise breakfast and a relaxing chair massage from Licensed Massage Therapist Elizabeth Bates.

Socket Casino Night - You Bet We Had a Good Time!

We recently rounded up the Socket gang (along with friends and family) for an evening of big blinds, bluffing and blackjack.

Dozens of Socketeers joined our Texas Hold 'Em tournament, battling fiercely for the title of Socket Poker Champion.

In the end, Lonnie (one of our service delivery specialists) ousted account executive Dave Giles at the final table to claim the title.

What's on Your Fridge?

We're filling ours with nice emails from our customers.

They make for a nice little pick-me-up at lunchtime.

Like this one from Peter in Columbia, MO:

To say I am technically challenged puts it mildly. Mike patiently spent over an hour on the phone with me, first trying to analyze what had gone wrong, and then leading me through many steps and searches on my computer to eventually solve the problem. He was always calm, polite and reassuring (even when I wasn't at times). I just want to say thank you, Mike, for all the help and patience. (And the &%$#@ red light is finally off and the modem is online!)

And this one from David and Lorraine in Pleasant Hill, MO:

Meet Jason Vander Veen, Technical Support Supervisor

Every month, Socket employees nominate and vote on a co-worker who best exemplifies our Core Values and Beliefs.

This month, we picked Jason Vander Veen, technical support supervisor.

He joined the Socket team earlier this year and rapidly started to take on more responsibilities. When the department needed a new leader a few months ago, Jason fit the bill.

His team members say he's "like a duck, calm and cool on the surface, but paddling like heck underneath."

M-I-Z...

Z-O-U!!

Socketeers celebrated the University of Missouri's football season opener against Miami of Ohio this past Saturday in Columbia, MO.

While thousands of fans sweltered inside the 100-degree-plus stadium, our employees and friends enjoyed the nice, cool shade of our brand new tent (see what happened to our old one).

And, of course, some ice-cold beverages. And mega-big sandwiches.

It Sure Smells Good in Here

We're enjoying some Shakespeare's Pizza at our Columbia office today.

A lot of pizza.

Our residential customer service & sales department hit their sales goal for the month of August (and then some). So we filled the office with everything from plain-old (but delicious) pepperoni to Hawaiian with pepperjack cheese.

We're sharing with some other folks throughout the company that deserved a pat on the back, too.

Awww, Shucks...

We love to hear from our customers.

Especially messages like this one from Betty in Waynesville, MO:

Just wanted to thank you for all the tech support that I have received in the last 2 weeks from the Socket family…… I have talked to Adam, Sean, Chris and Manny and a few more that I am sorry I cannot remember. You folks are awesome! You have been very helpful and professional. I work in a customer contact environment also and know what good customer service is supposed to be. This is why I remain a loyal Socket customer!
