Fiber News Update

As we head into 2013, we are reaching some major landmarks with our fiber network. New areas of phase 2 are now eligible for installations, including the first section of Highway RA and some areas off of Highway F near County Road 248.  We expect to have all areas within our network north of Highway F eligible for installations by the end of January 2013.

GPON Architecture and What It Means

When we started developing plans for our fiber network, there were a lot of options when choosing how to design it. In the end we chose to go with a GPON style network in order to provide the best service and reliability for the largest number of customers. What exactly is a GPON network though?

GPON stands for Gigabit Passive Optical Network. The key benefit of this style of network is the way it provides customers with service.  By utilizing passive splitters in the fiber distribution network, GPON networks become a point-to-multipoint access mechanism. Sounds high-tech, but what does that mean for you, the customer?

Fiber News Update

Construction in Phase 2 continues east of Millersburg, MO and installations are going smoothly. A whopping 141,000 ft of fiber is now in the ground in Phase 2 and growing.

Cabinets have been ordered for the northeast section of the Phase 2 area, which will connect light signals to a fiber hut near Fulton, MO. Fiber Internet and phone services will then be delivered via these light signals sent from a laser down fiber-optic glass lines the size of a human hair.

Phase 3 Construction is Underway

We have good news from the Fiber frontlines this week! Construction continues in Phase 2 along Highway F and near west Fulton, MO.

As we extend our fiber network down the roads intersecting off of Highway F, we will be able to serve fiber lines to more customers. If you see construction near your home, call to see if you can schedule an installation.

Phase 3 Construction Plans Approved

We received good news this week!

Our construction plans were approved for the third phase of construction in our fiber network. This means we plan to begin construction near the Fulton, MO area starting on September 10. Once the infrastructure is built and the initial fiber lines are run, we will begin delivering drop locations and scheduling installations for new customers.

Scheduling Fiber Installs

Good news! Fiber installations are back in full swing!

If you live anywhere in the first construction phase or off of Highway F in the West of Fulton phase and have not called to schedule an installation, now is the time to do it!
